On a sunny but breezy day our competitors found the Cardiff Golf Club in fantastic condition. The true, firm fast greens where enjoyed by the high-class competitors. Cardiff Golf Club had provided the near ideal conditions for the inaugural Cardiff Feathers a new edition to the Glamorgan Order of Merit.
Returning the only sub-Par round of the day Mountain Ash’s Rhys Carhart enjoyed a 3 stroke lead after the opening round.
Rhys couldn’t maintain the excellent score in the morning and returned a 76 for a two-round total of 145.
Vale Resort’s Nick James looked to set to overhaul Rhys until a uncharacteristic run over the last 4 holes put paid to his chances of winning.
It was left to former Walker Cup Player Llewellyn Matthews playing in the last group to match Rhys’ total. Llewellyn’s 73 to add to his morning 72 was enough to win the event with a superior second round score
Llewellyn’s win gives him maximum points in the order of merit standings.
Rhys Carhart finishes second with Nick James one shot further back on 146 claiming 3rd.
