Swansea Bay Golf Club

Runaway victory for Home Team
Thirteen teams of four enjoyed some wonderful golf at Swansea Bay Golf Club on Sunday 6th June in the Welsh Handiap Team Championship ( West) qualifier.
With brilliant sunshine throughout the day the host’s second team were runaway winners with 115 points with all four players coming in with very respectable scores. Glynneath 2 came second on 100 points, one ahead of a gaggle of clubs on 99 including Mond Valley, Neath and Swansea Bay 1.
The individual prize went to Dilwyn Price on 39 points winning only by virtue of his back nine scores from Steve Drewson both from Swansea Bay 2’s victorious team.
Thanks must go to Swansea Bay’s owner Mr David Gorvett (and his staff) for accommodating us on the day and for the excellent condition of the course.
Thank you to all the competitors for making this competition such a success, but as organiser I was bitterly disappointed that not all the clubs in the County had bothered to send a team to either qualifying rounds. I will be in touch with you all personally before next year’s event.
Provisionally The Gower Golf Club has been pencilled in for the West in 2022, and if any club in the East wants to become the venue for next year, please get in contact with me.
Ed Morgan.
