The Welsh Team Championships headed east and was played at the St Pierre Golf Club on a wet and windy weekend. A team from Glamorgan could win this event for the 3rd year on the run following Pennard in 2017 and Neath in 2018. With 14 teams from Glamorgan qualifying there was a good chance of that happening.
Mountain Ash duly obliged and were crowned Welsh Team Champions for the 1st time in their history at the wet and windy St Pierre. The team of Ian Flower, Luke Thomas, Rhys Carhart, Matthew Delahaye and Carl Boobier battled through games against Rhos on sea, Bargoed, Holywell and the hosts St Pierre . A tight final game against Wrexham on the Sunday afternoon was completed by Luke Thomas winning on the final green.
Congratulations to all the players from Mountain Ash from the Glamorgan County Union and good luck in the European Team Championships in Bordeaux France in October.
